Copper Milk Churn
Description
A beautifully bright copper milk churn.
Vintage milk churns make wonderful garden accessories, either as unique planters or as attractive stand-alone items. This copper milk churn, being a half size churn, is an extremely versatile accessory, which would work as well indoors as in a garden or on a patio.
Milk churns were the standard way of transporting milk from around the 1850s onwards, when they replaced the wooden lidded buckets we see ye olde milkmaids carrying in nostalgic paintings. The term “churn” is misleading, as the last thing the farmer wanted was the milk churning into butter in transit! “Churn” simply refers to the containers.
This richly shining copper churn is in exceptional condition.
English, circa 1930s.
Size: height 58cm, circumference 35cm
