Green Arras Plant Stand

VG10145

Description

Details

A lovely 3-tier Arras plant stand from principal manufacturer Grassin Baledans. The term "Arras" refers to garden furniture and equipment produced in the eponymous French region between 1840 and 1920, from semi-hollow steel tubing.

These elegant plant stands feature in the manufacturers 1874 catalogue and could be as tall as 8 tiers high. This 3-tier plant stand was originally used for potting in a greenhouse.

These days, that would be considered rather a waste! The stand could be the foundation for a fantastic floral display in a conservatory or garden room.

French, circa 1870.
