19th Century Croquet Bench

We bought this bench at auction knowing that it had been unloved for many years. We have undertaken a full blacksmith restoration transforming it back to its former glory with traditional parts and in its original colour.

This substantial country house bench was originally made to be wheeled onto a lawn for people to watch croquet and perhaps tennis with their feet and dresses raised above the grass on the drop-down footrest.

It has a rectangular back, down swept arms and a slatted seat above the adjustable footrest. It sits on four legs with two terminating in wheels. A very attractive addition to any garden.
