A pair of rare Val d’Osne cast iron urns standing at over 80cm high. The Val d’Osne foundry was established by J.P.Andre in 1835 and based in the Haute-Marne. The company took over rival firms such as Barbezat and Ducel becoming the largest and most prolific foundry of decorative and sculptural cast iron in France during the 19th century. These urns appear in the Val d’Osne foundry catalogue as originally being a Barbezat model. The quality of the casting depicts 5 winged cherubs on each urn linked with a garland of flowers. A fine pair of substantial urns in original untouched condition.
