An exceptional pair of 18th century “Jarre d’Anduze” from France by Boisset. They were made from terracotta in an understated pale orange and green. They have traces of original glaze, and a clear maker’s. mark on one.
Anduze, a small village in the foothills of the Cevennes ranges, grew famous for its clay pots, urns and jarres, a legacy of Medici design. Today, this little township close to Provence is known worldwide for its garden vases and orange and green planters, signature landscaping features of Versailles.
This unusually good pair would look superb planted up in a garden room or elsewhere within the home.
