Violet Grey was founded through a long-standing interest in gardens and the objects that help give them structure, maturity, and individuality. We specialise in sourcing garden antiques chosen specifically for their character, practicality, and lasting presence.

We travel throughout the UK and Europe, sourcing pieces with the quality to be used properly rather than simply displayed. From the many items we consider on our travels, only a small number are brought back—those with the craftsmanship, condition, and inherent soul to still have something meaningful to offer.

As pieces that combine utility with good design become increasingly difficult to find, each of our selections is chosen for how it can sit naturally within an established garden. Whether intended for planting, furnishing a terrace, or adding structure to a garden room, these objects are valued for their usefulness as much as for their history.

To ensure their longevity, items are either preserved in their original state or carefully and sympathetically restored in our workshop. Our emphasis is always on retaining age and integrity rather than over-restoring. We photograph every piece professionally before it reaches the site and store all items indoors, ensuring each image accurately represents the condition on arrival. Ultimately, our focus is to offer pieces we would be happy to use in our own garden—and if a piece is not right for your space, we will arrange a full return without difficulty.
