19th Century Cast Iron Urn

VG0146

Description

Details

An early 19th century cast iron French urn.

This is a small urn with a huge character! We found it in a market in Villeneuve les Avignon, and loved its curved shape and pleasing patina.

It's a simple constuction, and would have been cast in three sections: the rim and plain body, the gadrooned base, and the square base it stands on.

This would look lovely on a patio or balcony, and it's crying out for some bright and lively planting.

French, circa 1830.

Height:38cm; Diameter:29cm
