19th Century Biot Jarre
Description
A substantial early-19th century Biot “jarre,” reflecting a pottery tradition dating back to the 16th century and rooted in the village of Biot near Cannes. Handmade from a blend of red and grey clays, it is distinguished by its form and the characteristic yellow glazed rim. Once used to store olives or flour, this jar is in remarkably good condition after two centuries of use, and would make a striking decorative feature in the home or garden.
